After Master Plan Development 1

After the master plan presentation we went to work developing our concepts. We solved the traffic problems by adding car access to be place off the developments in construction to the east of the site. We then moved towards our third project which is to individually develop the an aspect of the site. I chose the site entry through to the administration building and how that building connects to the rest of the site.

My design followed a few basic principles:

• Organic structure
• Integration of landscape and architecture
• Sustainable materials
  
• Passive cooling
  
• Thermal heating and cooling
• Comfortable working areas

These principles followed through and developed my concept.

• A thermal wall blocking south west winds.
• Thermal mass pods containing different areas of the building, with light northern walls
• Landscaping connecting the areas
• Landscaping containing outdoor spaces
  
• Flowing plan resembling the ripple effect of the ocean which is evident in many buildings in the Torquay region and allows for ease in transition between campuses.
  
• And vegetation to control wind flow
